[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The South Korean government will utilize public facilities as alternative accommodations to address price gouging ahead of the upcoming BTS concert in Busan next month.

On May 28, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the plan during a task force meeting aimed at curbing excessive pricing in the region.

The government has secured approximately 1,300 alternative lodging facilities, including universities, religious institutions, public training centers, and youth hostels in Busan and nearby cities such as Yangsan and Changwon. These facilities will provide free or low-cost accommodation for domestic and international visitors around the concert dates (June 12–13).

Authorities will also conduct inspections of hotels and lodging businesses near the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, where the concert will take place, to prevent unfair pricing practices.

The move follows public concerns over rising accommodation costs and comments from Lee Jae-myung urging improvements to protect the city’s image.

Information on available facilities and booking procedures will be provided through official tourism platforms.
