[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, June 4 — The Seoul Metropolitan Government Research Institute of Public Health and Environment said it detected nicotine in several liquid e-cigarette products labeled as nicotine-free, following a recent inspection.

The agency tested 63 products, including 33 sold online and 30 sold in offline stores. Nicotine was found in three products that did not indicate nicotine content on their labels.

Officials warned that unclear ingredient labeling could increase the risk of nicotine dependence and stressed the need for stronger oversight and accurate product information.

No prohibited substances such as etomidate or cannabis-related compounds, including THC and CBD, were detected. The products with unclear labeling were manufactured before the revised law took effect.

The inspection comes after synthetic nicotine-containing e-cigarettes were brought under tobacco regulations in April.
